Description
Perrier-Jouet builds Grand Brut in the Champagne region as its everyday cuvee, and it carries the floral signature the house is known for. The wine is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and maturation on the lees that lends fine bread and biscuit character alongside the fruit. The blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier is finished as a Brut, so it stays dry and finely structured while keeping enough weight to work at the table as well as before it.
The wine shows light golden yellow with a lively, persistent bead. The nose is floral first, with white flowers over green apple, citrus peel and a hint of white peach. The palate is fresh and balanced, with clear fruit, a fine creaminess from the lees and a clean, dry finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass to let the aromatics open. It makes an easy aperitif and moves happily on to oysters, white fish, sushi and lighter poultry dishes.
