Description
The Original is the 5 Years Old blend in the Pearse range from Pearse Lyons, the distillery raised inside the church of St James in Dublin's Liberties in 2017. It carries a proper age statement at an accessible strength, malt and grain married together and bottled at 43% for the European market.
Full maturation in ex-bourbon barrels gives it a drier, more savoury cast than most young Irish blends. Milk chocolate and candied citrus open the palate, then hay, husky barley and a gentle leathery dryness stretch through the finish. It is an honest, texture forward five year old that rewards a slow pour.
