Mortlach 35 Years Old 1989 Cask #S-28607 (La Maison du Whisky)

La Maison du Whisky, the celebrated Paris merchant, in its Artist range, drew this 35 Year Old: a 1989 vintage from cask S-28607, an outturn of 250 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.

Thirty-five years in Oloroso drew the rich, meaty spirit to a profound depth, long oxidation and heavy evaporation over figgy dried fruit, leather and old wood.

At 44.2% it shows dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty, sherried depth over the meaty Mortlach body, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
