Description
Wilson & Morgan, the Italian independent behind the Barrel Selection range, released this 25 Year Old: cask 3395, a 1995 vintage, an outturn of 225 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
By twenty-five years the oily, meaty spirit had turned dense and leathery in the sherry, oxidation drawing out fig, date, walnut and dark chocolate.
At 56.1% it shows dried fruit, leather and polished oak framed by the dense Dufftown spirit, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
