Description
From Wilson & Morgan, the Italian independent behind the Barrel Selection range, this 12 Year Old is cask 4088, a 1984 vintage. Mortlach is the Speyside outlier known as the Beast of Dufftown, its worm tubs and 2.81 distillation building a dense, sulphury, meaty spirit.
Across twelve years in American oak, esterification got underway and the meaty spirit rounded, vanilla and light toffee folding in.
At 43% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth over the full-bodied base. A muscular Speyside malt.
