From Hunter Laing, the Laing family independent based in Glasgow, this 33 Year Old is a 1989 vintage, an outturn of 311 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.

By thirty-three years the robust Mortlach spirit had reached the edge of its life, meaty depth turned to leather, beeswax and dried fruit, the tannins held short of bitterness.

At 52.9% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
