Description

Elixir Distillers, an independent bottler, selected this 31 Year Old, a 1990 vintage from cask 4423, an outturn of 260 bottles. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.

Thirty-one years in Oloroso drew the dense Mortlach spirit to a profound depth, long oxidation and heavy evaporation over figgy dried fruit, leather and old wood.

At 53.6% it shows a savoury, struck-match note, undiluted. A bold, sherried Mortlach.
