Mortlach 30 Years Old, a rich, meaty Speyside single malt in an Oloroso at 48.5% from Hunter Laing. Dense, oily and savoury, the Dufftown style.

Description
Hunter Laing, the Laing family independent based in Glasgow, bottles this 30 Year Old: a 1989 vintage, an outturn of 317 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
By thirty years the sherry, oxidation and evaporation had taken the meaty spirit to its limit, dried fruit and leather worn deep and soft.
At 48.5% it shows cooked fruit, undiluted. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
