Mortlach 30 Years Old 1987 (Cadenhead’s)

From Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, founded in 1842, this 30 Year Old is a 1987 distillation. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.

By thirty years the oily, meaty spirit had reached the edge of its life, savoury depth turned to leather, beeswax and dried fruit, the tannins held short of bitterness.

At 48.2% it shows chocolate, citrus, fresh fruit, a hay-like note, honey and malt extract, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
