Mortlach 20 Years Old 1997 Cask #7911215 (Duncan Taylor)

Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories, drew this 20 Year Old, cask 7911215, a 1997 vintage, an outturn of 63 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.

Twenty years finished in a small Oloroso octave packed concentrated dried fruit into Mortlach's weighty make, the little cask's melanoidins giving raisin and date fast.

At 47.7% it shows raisin, walnut and a leathery, sherried richness over the full-bodied base, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
