Mortlach 20 Years Old 1996 Cask #193 + 194 (Signatory Vintage)

Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, selected this 20 Year Old: a 1996 vintage from a small parcel of casks. The first legal distillery in Dufftown, Mortlach builds its meaty weight through low-copper worm tubs and the 2.81 distillation, and has anchored Johnnie Walker for a century.

Across twenty years the oak's ellagitannins added structure while oxidation deepened the meaty spirit into cooked fruit and leather.

At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge over the full-bodied base. A muscular Speyside malt.
