Description

From Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895 and a long-standing Mortlach bottler, this bottling is a 1936 vintage. Mortlach, the first licensed distillery in Dufftown, runs a 2.81-times distillation and worm-tub condensers that give the heavy, meaty spirit fans call the Beast of Dufftown.

Ex-Bourbon maturation framed the bold, full-bodied make, the low-tannin oak lending vanilla over the savoury core as oxidation slowly began.

At 40% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth over the oily Mortlach weight. The savoury Dufftown style.
