Description
From Duncan Taylor, the Huntly independent with one of Scotland's deepest cask inventories, this 19 Year Old is cask 799143, a 1995 vintage, an outturn of 88 bottles. Mortlach, owned by John Walker & Sons from 1923, makes a dense, sulphury Speyside through worm tubs and its singular 2.81-times distillation.
A small Oloroso octave drove dried fruit and chocolate into the meaty spirit across nineteen years, tight oak contact doing the work of a larger butt.
At 49.7% it shows dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty, sherried depth carried on the heavy Dufftown body, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
