Mortlach 14 Years Old, a rich, meaty Speyside single malt in ex-Bourbon at 50% from Hunter Laing. Dense, oily and savoury, the Dufftown style.
Only 2 left in stock
Description
Hunter Laing, the Laing family independent based in Glasgow, selected this 14 Year Old: cask HL 19622, a 2008 vintage, an outturn of 310 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
By fourteen years the bourbon oak had knitted with the rich, meaty spirit, caramelised hemicellulose lending fudge alongside the savoury depth.
At 50% it shows honey, dried fruit and a leathery depth over the oily Mortlach weight, undiluted. A meaty, muscular Mortlach.
