Description

Liquid Gold Enterprises, an independent bottler, drew this 13 Year Old: cask 1141, a 1988 vintage. Mortlach is Speyside's great meaty malt, its 1823 Dufftown stillhouse using worm tubs and a 2.81 distillation that defies the region's lighter norm.

Thirteen years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the bold, full-bodied make.

At 57.5% it shows vanilla, cooked fruit and a savoury weight on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
