Mortlach 12 Years Old 2009 (Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers)

Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, bottlers of the Carn Mor Strictly Limited range, drew this 12 Year Old: a 2009 distillation, an outturn of 942 bottles. Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, condenses its spirit in worm tubs and part-triple-distils through the tiny Wee Witchie still, building weight and a savoury, sulphury core.

Twelve years in a rum cask gave the dense Mortlach spirit a tropical, brown-sugar sweetness over the meaty weight.

At 47.5% it shows fresh fruit, honey, malt extract and a nutty depth, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
