Mortlach 12 Years Old, a rich, meaty Speyside single malt in ex-Bourbon at 48.4% from Douglas Laing. Dense, oily and savoury, the Dufftown style.

Description
From Douglas Laing, bottling single casks from Glasgow since 1948, this 12 Year Old is a 2009 from cask DL 15639, an outturn of 365 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
Twelve years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the dense Mortlach spirit.
At 48.4% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. A muscular Speyside malt.
