From Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, this 12 Year Old is a small parcel of casks, a 2007 vintage. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.

By twelve years the bourbon oak had knitted with the gamey, savoury spirit, caramelised hemicellulose lending fudge alongside the meaty depth.

At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge on Mortlach's muscular frame. A muscular Speyside malt.
