Mortlach 11 Years Old 1993 (Murray McDavid)

Murray McDavid, founded in 1996 by the team that revived Bruichladdich, drew this 11 Year Old, from a 1993 vintage, an outturn of 1,800 bottles. Mortlach's robust, umami-rich spirit is the work of worm-tub condensers and the Wee Witchie's triple pass, a regime in place at Dufftown since 1897.

Eleven years across ex-Bourbon and Port layered the bold, full-bodied make, the bourbon lending vanilla and the Port plum and red cherry.

At 46% it shows red fruit, raisin and a soft tannic grip over the oily Mortlach weight. A muscular Speyside malt.
