Mortlach 11 Years Old 1989 Cask #5148 (Blackadder)

Blackadder, an independent bottler, bottles this 11 Year Old: a 1989 from cask 5148, an outturn of 668 bottles. Founded in Dufftown in 1823, Mortlach owes its rich, meaty weight to worm-tub condensers and the unusual 2.81 distillation devised by Alexander Cowie.

Across eleven years the Oloroso butt loaded the heavy spirit with date, raisin and a nutty edge, weight and sherry meeting head on.

At 60.5% it shows dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty, sherried depth over the meaty Mortlach body, undiluted. A bold, rich Mortlach.
