Mortlach 10 Years Old, a rich, meaty Speyside single malt in ex-Bourbon at 46% from Douglas Laing. Worm-tub weight and a savoury, full-bodied depth.

Description
Douglas Laing, the Glasgow independent established in 1948, released this 10 Year Old: a 2008 from cask DL 12662, an outturn of 379 bottles. Mortlach's heavy, savoury style comes from worm-tub condensing and a part-triple distillation through the Wee Witchie, unchanged since 1897.
Ten years in ex-Bourbon let oak meet weight, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling over the oily, meaty spirit.
At 46% it shows malt, dried fruit and a leathery edge over the full-bodied base. Big, savoury and full-bodied.
