Description
Mijenta Reposado is a highland tequila from Casa Tequilera de Arandas in Los Altos, Jalisco, built entirely from Blue Weber agave and overseen by maestra tequilera Ana María Romero Mena, one of Mexico's most respected noses. The house runs a long wild yeast fermentation and a slow, deliberate process, and Mijenta presents this bottling as additive-free. It is the rested, rounder sibling to the blanco, drawn from the floral, honeyed register typical of the high red clay plateau.
Resting runs up to six months across a mix of American white oak, French oak and French acacia casks, which lends light vanilla and a sweet baking edge without burying the agave. Expect cooked agave and honey on the palate, orange blossom and bergamotte lifting the nose, and a midpalate flicker of cocoa nib before a long, generous finish. Bottled at 40%.
