Description
MICHAEL Rosé Frizzante comes from Weingut Michael am Rosenberg in the Styrian hills of southern Austria, made in a clean, contemporary style. The base wine is drawn from red grapes and vinified in temperature-controlled steel tanks, which keeps the fruit fresh and the structure precise. This is a semi-sparkling frizzante given its light carbonation as a finished style, so the pressure is soft rather than vigorous and the emphasis falls on drinkability and clear rosé character.
The colour is a delicate, clear pink. The nose is berry-led, with raspberry and strawberry to the fore, and the palate is balanced, with a subtle fruit sweetness carried by a fine, soft bead into a berry-accented close. Serve it well chilled in a white wine glass. It makes an easy aperitif for a garden party and suits light starters, summer salads and mild fish, while its gentle sweetness also works against Mediterranean snacks and fruit desserts such as a berry pavlova or a strawberry tart.
