Description
Weingut Michael works in Styria, in the south of Austria, where a cool climate favours fragrant, precise white wines. This frizzante is made from Gelber Muskateller, the perfumed grape that gives elderflower and grape-blossom aromatics, and it carries the 2025 vintage. The wine is matured in steel tanks to keep the varietal scent clear, with fine carbonation added for a refreshing, energising bead. There is no lees ageing or oak; the wine is all about aromatic freshness and the light, lively fizz of a frizzante.
The colour is a light straw with a fine, lively bead. The nose is floral and citrus-led, with elderflower to the fore. The palate is fresh and fruity, white peach and green apple over a clean structure, the finish animated, floral and moderately long. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass to hold the aromatics. It makes a fragrant aperitif and pairs with light starters, salads, mildly spiced dishes and fresh white fish.
