Description
MICHAEL Muskateller Frizzante comes from Weingut Michael am Rosenberg in the Styrian hills of southern Austria, made from the aromatic Muskateller grape that gives the wine its distinctive grapey, floral signature. This is a semi-sparkling frizzante finished in steel, which holds the primary aromatics of the Muscat family and keeps the wine light on its feet at a moderate strength. The result leads with perfume and fresh fruit rather than autolytic complexity, in keeping with the aromatic style.
The colour is a light straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections. The nose is intensely Muscat, with elderflower, ripe peach and a touch of exotic fruit. The palate is fresh, fruity and lightly sparkling, with a playful exotic-fruit character and a clean, fruity finish. Serve it chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass, a lime slice optional. It makes a fruity aperitif and suits light starters such as goat's cheese with honey, fresh salads, sushi and lightly spiced Asian dishes, and also carries fruit desserts such as a lemon tart or peach panna cotta.
