Description
Luc Belaire built its name on sparkling rose with a nightlife image, and Rare Rose is its signature bottling from the south of France. This Fantome edition adds a battery-lit label that switches on at the touch of a button, which makes the 1.5 litre magnum a centrepiece at a party. The wine is a rose from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, made in stainless steel to keep the red fruit fresh and the texture soft rather than austere. The style is berry-driven and easy, pitched for pouring cold among guests.
The colour is a bright, luminous rose with a fine, lively bead. The nose shows cherry blossom, blackcurrant and blackberry, and the palate is soft and fruity, balancing freshness against ripe berry with a smooth, gentle and long finish. Serve well chilled in a white wine glass. It suits an aperitif and works with fruity desserts, strawberries and light pastries, and its soft fruit also carries cold poultry or charcuterie.
