Luc Belaire Rare Luxe

Luc Belaire makes Rare Luxe in France as a modern branded sparkling wine drawn largely from Chardonnay grown in Burgundy. The wine is vinified to keep its freshness and fine bead, then finished with a measured dosage that gives it a smooth, approachable character rather than a bone-dry edge. A short period of ageing rounds the texture and adds a little depth, and while it sits outside the classic appellations it is built for stylish, easy pouring at 12.5 per cent.

The wine shows light gold with a fine, lively perlage. The nose leads with ripe white fruit, apple and pear, lifted by a delicate floral note. The palate is fresh and balanced with harmonious fruit, a soft creaminess and a subtle sweetness on the close, finishing clean and gently long. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a wine glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside light starters, seafood, poultry and mild cheeses.
