Description
Rare Luxe is the white counterpart to Luc Belaire's rose, built on Chardonnay grown on the chalky soils of Burgundy. The wine is made in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh, then finished with a French liqueur made from Chablis wine, which rounds it out and gives the softer, off-dry sweetness that defines the style. This Fantome edition carries a battery-lit label that glows white at the touch of a button, turning the 1.5 litre magnum into a centrepiece for a celebration. At around 27 g/l residual sugar it sits in the demi-sec band.
The colour is a clear golden yellow with a long-lasting bead. The nose shows white peach, apricot and white flowers with a hint of brioche and honey, and the palate is creamy and balanced, its ripe fruit sweetness set against a fresh acidity, closing round and long with a tropical edge. Serve chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and suits fine starters, grilled white fish and, on the sweeter side, fruit desserts and light pastries.
