Longmorn 55 Years Old 1966 Cask #609 (Gordon & MacPhail)

Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, held some of the deepest Longmorn stocks of any bottler. This Private Collection 55 Year Old is a 1966 vintage from Oloroso cask 609, an outturn of 319 bottles at cask strength after more than five decades.

Fifty-five years in Oloroso built profound depth, the cask's melanoidins giving date and raisin, the angel's share easing the strength toward the edge over the decades.

At 41.6% it shows deep, mellow sherried fruit worn to silk, the poise of great age. A 1966 Private Collection.
