Description
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, founded at The Vaults in Leith in 1983, codes its bottlings rather than naming distilleries, 7 being Longmorn. This 17 Year Old is a 2003 vintage, titled Calm, cool and collected, an outturn of 180 bottles.
Seventeen years in ex-Bourbon matured the rich spirit, the oak's caramelised hemicellulose giving a soft toffee alongside vanilla.
At 57.2% it shows mature ripe orchard fruit and vanilla over Longmorn's richness, undiluted. A Society 7.271.
