The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, founded at The Vaults in Leith in 1983, codes its bottlings rather than naming distilleries, 7 being Longmorn. This 12 Year Old is a 2007 vintage, titled Nutty by nature, an outturn of 619 bottles.

Twelve years in ex-Bourbon framed the rich spirit, the American oak lending clean vanilla and a creamy weight and a nutty depth.

At 58.4% it shows a nutty note, a leafy lift, a sherried edge and a faintly sweaty depth over Longmorn's fruit, undiluted. A Society 7.237.
