Jack Wiebers Whisky World is a German independent with a long catalogue of single casks. Filled in 1985 and bottled in 2013, the whisky is a 28 year old Littlemill, from cask 101, part of the Castle Collection - Remainder of cask No 0101 series. Nothing new will ever come from Bowling, which makes survivors like this increasingly hard to find.

At 49%, undiluted, vanilla rises from the ex-Bourbon over the soft fruit. Expect citrus, dried fruit. Decades of slow oxidation turned the spirit's aldehydes to acids and then to fruity esters, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla beneath. Decades of slow evaporation have softened the strength and concentrated the fruit, the price of great age in a damp warehouse.
