Description

The Kilmory Edition is the core expression and house style of Lagg, the peated distillery that Isle of Arran Distillers opened on the southern tip of Arran in 2019. It is named for Kilmory, the parish where the village of Lagg sits. Arran's last legal distillery closed in 1837, and Lagg revives the island's peated tradition.

Lagg distils a heavily peated spirit, the barley peated to around 50ppm. Matured entirely in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, the American oak lifts vanilla against the young smoke.

Bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colour. Guaiacol and phenols drive the earthy peat smoke, the first-fill oak giving vanilla and a creamy note. Tasting notes take in smoke, citrus, a hay-like note, a mossy edge, a kippery maritime note and an oily texture. The fresh, peated heart of Lagg.
