Description

The Corriecravie Edition is the sherried counterpart to Lagg's core Kilmory, the second core expression from this young peated Isle of Arran distillery, named for a hamlet northwest of the village of Lagg. Lagg opened in 2019 as the peated sister to Lochranza, which makes the unpeated Arran malt.

The malt is peated to around 50ppm, giving Lagg its heavy smoke. Matured first in ex-Bourbon barrels and then finished for around six months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads from Miguel Martin in Jerez, the sherry brings sweeter smoke and rich fruit.

Bottled at 55% without chill filtration or added colour. Guaiacol and phenols drive the peat smoke, the Oloroso adding dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin. Tasting notes take in smoke, a sherried character, dried fruit, chocolate, tobacco and a nutty edge. A richer, sherried Lagg.
