Description
This 41 Years Old was bottled in 2014, a rare old Ladyburn from the mid-1970s. Built into the Girvan grain complex in Ayrshire in 1966, Ladyburn was a Lowland malt distillery that lasted barely nine years before it was demolished in 1976.
Ladyburn was never its own distillery, just four pot stills at Girvan, its malt feeding Grant's blends and easing demand on Glenfiddich. Matured in ex-Bourbon across more than four decades, the wood deepened a malt with no successor.
Bottled at 40%. From the ex-Bourbon come vanilla and coconut, its vanillin and oak lactones, with a maltol toffee note over an oily, waxy aged depth. A rare old expression of a nine-year ghost distillery.
