Description
Since the Ladyburn name is off limits to independents, it is bottled as Ayrshire. The Whisky Talker bottled this 1974 for the Mo Òr Collection, a 36 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 2608, an outturn of 261 bottles for the Netherlands. Inside the Girvan grain works in Ayrshire, Ladyburn produced for just nine years before closing in 1975.
More an annexe than a distillery, Ladyburn was two pairs of pot stills at Girvan, its malt feeding Grant's blends. Across thirty-six years the ex-Bourbon cask built wax, vanilla and a polished oak depth on the light malt.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and toffee from maltol over an oily, waxy depth. A rare old Ayrshire single cask.
