Description
Bottlers cannot use the Ladyburn name, so this appears as Ayrshire, after the county. Signatory bottled this 1975 as a 37 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 3423, an outturn of 177 bottles for Germany. Distilled in 1975, the year Ladyburn closed, this comes from a distillery that worked just nine years inside the Girvan grain complex.
More an annexe than a distillery, Ladyburn was four pot stills at Girvan, its malt feeding Grant's blends. Across thirty-seven years the ex-Bourbon cask built wax, vanilla and a polished oak depth on the light malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 49.8%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee over an oily, waxy depth. A rare final-year-vintage Ayrshire at cask strength.
