Knockdhu 12 Years Old Single Highland Malt (40%)

This 12 Years Old carries the original Knockdhu name rather than anCnoc, an old Single Highland Malt bottling for Germany from before the rebrand. Knockdhu distillery, near Huntly in Banffshire, renamed its whisky anCnoc in the 1990s to avoid confusion with Knockando.

Quiet for years, the distillery reopened in 1989. Matured in ex-Bourbon over twelve years, the wood softens the fruit and layers in vanilla.

Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon cask gives vanilla and coconut from vanillin and oak lactones, with a toffee edge. The recorded notes run to honey, a malt extract note and vanilla. An old Knockdhu-named bottling.
