Description
A vintage dated entry in the Knappogue Castle Very Special Reserve line, distilled at Bushmills in Co. Antrim in 1995 and bottled fourteen years later, in 2009, for the German market. The label revived the old Irish habit of selling whiskey by its distillation year rather than a fixed age, each vintage bottled when judged ready.
Maturation is in ex-bourbon casks alone, which keeps the focus on the spirit itself: honey, orchard fruit, vanilla and soft malt, the clean signature of unpeated triple distillation on the north Antrim coast. Bottled at 40%, it is a gentle, precise picture of mid nineties Bushmills under a bonder's label.
