Description
Knappogue Castle is one of the great names of the Irish bonder revival, a label founded on casks laid down by Mark Edwin Andrews, the Texan who restored the Co. Clare castle it is named for. This Twin Wood release takes triple distilled single malt from Bushmills in Co. Antrim, the oldest licensed distillery in the world, and gives it fourteen years across two cask types.
Bourbon barrels supply the vanilla and citrus backbone while Oloroso sherry casks layer in dried fruit and a nutty depth, a pairing that suits the soft orchard character of triple distilled Antrim malt. Bottled at 46%, it keeps the gentle elegance of the Bushmills house style and adds a richer, sherried finish from the Twin Wood marriage.
