Kilchoman Small Batch Release 9 Years Old 2008

This Small Batch Release is a 9 year old from 2008, vatted from two Oloroso casks. An outturn of 1,285 bottles for Germany. The Wills family's Kilchoman, founded in 2005, is the only farm distillery on Islay.

The distillery follows its barley from field to bottle on the one Islay farm. Matured in Oloroso casks, the sherry wood pulls the young peated spirit towards dark fruit.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 56.6%. The sherry gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, and peat phenols the smoke. The recorded notes run to chocolate, fresh fruit, dried hay, malt sweetness, fresh oak and seasoned oak. A sherried small batch.
