José Cuervo Reserva de la Familia 2020 Extra Añejo Tequila

José Cuervo Reserva de la Familia is a 100% agave extra añejo produced at La Rojeña, NOM 1122, the oldest active distillery in the town of Tequila. First made in 1995 for the family's 200th anniversary, it was the first extra añejo tequila in the world. This 2020 Artist Box Collection edition carries artwork by Gonzalo Lebrija, each wax sealed bottle dated and numbered.

The tequila is aged more than five years in selected bourbon oak casks, then married with older reserve spirit said to reach up to thirty years. The colour is deep amber, the nose carrying apple, oak, almond and cinnamon with a touch of vanilla. The palate is full and mild, a balanced run of oak, pepper and soft agave aromas that have receded toward the wood with this much time, closing on a long, gentle finish at 38%.
