Description
This is the anejo tier of Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia, the super fine line from La Rojena, the historic distillery in the town of Tequila in the Jalisco lowlands and one of the oldest still working. This Private Cask Collection release is Cask Blend 3 from 2024, limited to 1380 bottles, with at least a year in oak as the anejo class demands. The agave is Blue Weber and it is bottled at 40%.
Maturation runs in American and French oak barrels sourced from T.W. Boswell, a cooperage known for fine wine casks, and the combination shapes the whole profile. The nose leads with chocolate and toasted oak, while the palate brings caramel and dark fruit over the cooked agave base. The two oak origins pull in different directions, American oak toward sweet vanilla and caramel, French oak toward tighter spice and dried fruit, leaving a darker, wood led anejo for followers of the Reserva range.
