Description
Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia 2023 is a 100% agave extra anejo tequila produced at La Rojena in the town of Tequila, the oldest active distillery in the category, run by the Beckmann family. First made in 1995 for the family's bicentennial, Reserva de la Familia was the world's first extra anejo tequila, and each annual release carries an artist-designed box, here the 2023 Tercerunquinto edition, with wax sealed bottles numbered and dated.
The tequila rests over five years in selected bourbon oak barrels and is then blended with older reserve stocks said to reach up to thirty years in age, building its deep amber colour and weight. Aroma runs to apple, oak, almond and cinnamon with a touch of vanilla, while the palate is full and mild, balancing oak and pepper against soft agave through a long, smooth finish. Bottled at 38%.
