Invergordon 26 Years Old 1997 Watt Whisky (Campbeltown Whisky Company Ltd.)

Founded in 1959, Invergordon makes grain whisky on a large scale for blending, so single grain bottlings under its own name are rare and come mostly from independent bottlers. This release was bottled by Campbeltown Whisky Company Ltd., distilled in 1997, at 26 years old, for its Watt Whisky range. The outturn was 258 bottles, released for Europe.

Grain whisky like Invergordon's is made in continuous Coffey stills rather than pot stills, which gives a cleaner, sweeter and lighter spirit than malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 52.3%, without dilution, the ex-Bourbon wood gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for butterscotch. Invergordon's light grain core keeps it soft and sweet through a long vanilla finish.
