Description
Invergordon single grain is uncommon, the distillery's output largely feeding Whyte & Mackay blends rather than standalone bottlings. This release was bottled by Bottles & Legends, distilled in 2011, at 14 years old, for its Légendes Des Circuits range. The outturn was 100 bottles, released for Belgium.
Invergordon runs column stills over fifty feet tall on a maize and wheat mash, producing the soft, sweet grain spirit that forms the base of Whyte & Mackay's blends. Matured in an Oloroso sherry cask.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.9%, without dilution, the Oloroso wood adds dried fruit, with melanoidins reading as fig and raisin and tannins giving a walnut dryness. The result is a soft, sweet profile led by vanilla and coconut, into a gentle finish.
