Description
Invergordon is the most northerly grain distillery in Scotland, set on the Cromarty Firth in Easter Ross, with almost all of its output going into Whyte & Mackay's blends. This single cask was bottled by Best Dram, distilled in 2009, at 12 years old. Single cask number 305951 yielded 274 bottles, released for Germany.
Grain whisky like Invergordon's is made in continuous Coffey stills rather than pot stills, which gives a cleaner, sweeter and lighter spirit than malt. Matured in a Port cask.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 56.3%, without dilution, the Port wood adds plum and cherry, with a faint tannic grip and a jammy sweetness. Recorded bottle notes run to honey. Invergordon's light grain core keeps it soft and sweet through a long vanilla finish.
