Cooked agave with a smoother edge defines this Herradura Plata, a Valles blanco from Casa Herradura in Amatitán that takes an unusual forty five day rest in oak, giving it more body than a typical bottle straight blanco.

Description
Herradura Plata is the blanco of Casa Herradura, made at the Hacienda San Jose del Refugio in Amatitan, Jalisco, one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the Tequila valley and now part of Brown-Forman. The house is credited with creating the reposado style, and it carries that instinct for oak even into its blanco.
Where most plata tequila is bottled clear straight off the still, this one rests forty five days in oak casks, just under the sixty day blanco limit, which lends a smoothness and a little roundness most blancos lack. The result keeps the lowland Herradura signature of cooked agave with a slightly woody, classic profile, and at 40% it holds enough strength for mixing into cocktails. Estate grown agave and stone oven cooking sit behind the line.
