Description
Herradura's Selección Suprema is an Extra Añejo first released in 1995, made at Casa Herradura at the Hacienda San José del Refugio in Amatitan, the oldest continuously working distillery in the Valles lowlands of Jalisco. The house is estate rooted, with much of its own agave, stone ovens and notably natural fermentation, and is credited with creating the Reposado style.
Aged more than four years in oak, well past the three year Extra Añejo minimum, this Blue Weber tequila takes on a rich dark amber colour and a profile where the cask leads. Expect cooked agave joined by rose like floral notes, vanilla and citrus, a soft and rich palate and a sweet cocoa edged finish, bottled at 40%. At this length of maturation the oak becomes the dominant voice and the bright agave of a younger tequila recedes into the background.
