Description
Herradura Reposado is a 100 percent agave tequila made at Casa Herradura, the Hacienda San José del Refugio in Amatitán, in the lowland Valles of Jalisco. Now part of Brown-Forman, this is one of the oldest continuously operating valley distilleries and is credited with creating the reposado class, making it a natural reference point for the style.
The reposado rests eleven months in oak, well beyond the two month minimum, which builds a deep golden colour, a soft aroma and a full, rounded palate. Cooked agave from the estate sits beneath gentle wood, vanilla and a slightly woody sweetness in the classic valley profile. It is poured neat, over ice or in cocktails, and the extended rest gives it more barrel weight than a young reposado while keeping the agave in view.
